To Change or Not to Change — that is the question.
I see lots of conflicting advice on the socials and this one popped up for me lately:
Are we supposed to push ourselves to change OR are we supposed to stand solid in who we are and not change?
“You can’t become who you need to be by staying who you are.”
“Strong people don’t follow the crowd.”
This is prevalent in the online space — some mentors would encourage you to PLOW through your fears because what is best for you is way past your comfort zone.
Another message is to put blinders on, completely ignore what everyone else is doing, and make your own path on your own terms without any “guru” guiding you.
My take? I think it is a combination of both.
Some of us are stuck at a certain level in our business because of fear but we really, really, really want that next level. So the “push past” messaging has some merit.
Others are actually happy where they are in business but think they need to keep pushing because everyone else is. This is where the “stay true to you” messaging has merit.
I have a love/hate relationship with the amount of advice on how to grow your online business through launches. There is not ONE WAY to launch, not ONE WAY to grow your business, not ONE WAY to create a team.
Marketing best practice tells us to “niche down” which leads companies teaching launch methods to be singular in their approach. That leads them to market that their way is the best way.
If everyone is giving that advice, how do you know what is right for you?
My advice is: Awareness and Curiosity.
- Be in awareness of yourself, your weak spots and true desires.
- Get curious about the different launch options and methods to get you to your goals.
- Then spend some time (not too much time for the overthinkers) to get clear, pick your path and stick to it!
Knowing the combination of the two will tell you what methods/launches will work to build your business and what type of mentor/coach you need to get there.
